Microsoft Releases New Routing and Remote Access Service for NT

Microsoft has recently released a routing and remote access service (RAS) upgrade for NT. This upgrade replaces the basic mutliprotocol router service and RAS that ships with the product currently.

The product supports IPX and IP routing via Router Information Protocol (RIP) I and II. The router combines traditional LAN routing with remote demand dial-up access. This allows the router to automatically build and tear down remote network connections on a dial-up interface on an as-needed basis.

The product is available from Microsoft as a free upgrade for NT servers.
