MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Greetings Fellow Members,

May's meeting was a very informative meeting on office ergonomics. As someone who sits at a desk for extended periods, I appreciated the tips shared by Chris.

I would like to repeat the announcement that I made concerning the newsletter: the June issue of the GADPA newsletter (this issue) will be the last one printed and mailed. All subsequent newsletters will be available on the Internet at "www.gpbx.net/greensburg/nonprofit/gadpa/gadpanws.htm". Roger DuMond will continue to fax the meeting reminders before each month's meeting, and has volunteered to fax copies of the Internet newsletter to those of you without access to the Internet. If you would like a faxed copy, contact Roger at KOVA.

The reason behind this is strictly financial. If we continue to print and mail the newsletter, we will be in the red before year's end. At our May board meeting, we had a lengthy discussion on finances, our income and expenses. For whatever reason, several companies that have supported our group in the past by paying memberships have not done so this year. Our two main expenses are the newsletter and the PIE students. We wanted to continue our support of the PIE students, and since there is alternative media for the newsletter, the decision was made to eliminate the printing and mailing of the newsletter. If you have any ideas on how we can afford to print the newsletter, please let me know.

For all you collectors out there who are looking for the unusual, I have found just the thing: Nerd Kards. Nerd Kards are collector cards similar to baseball cards that detail the accomplishments of earlier achievers such as Archimedes, Aristotle, Copernicus, Faraday, Newton, and others. The Nerd Kards were created by Nick Georgis, a retired high school physics teacher who wanted to reverse the "dumbing down" of American students. He feels that the Nerd Kards will help inspire others to great accomplishments. The first series of 102 cards also includes several past Nobel Prize winners but does not include the wealthiest nerd of all, Bill Gates. If you would like to obtain a set, send $13.45 to Nerd Kards, P.O. Box 900, Monroe, CT 06468. If you or your company would like to purchase multiple sets as gifts for friends or for your favorite computer group, Nick does offer quantity discounts.

See you at the June meeting.

Kevin
