Netscape and Novell Joint Venture
Netscape and Novell have formed a joint venture company called Novonyx. Novonyx was formed to compete with Microsoft in the Internet market. Novonyx will integrate Netscape's SuiteSpot products with Novell's Intranetware.
The plan is to use Netscape's SuiteSpot server as an Internet gateway into Novell's Directory Services (NDS). The new products developed by the joint venture will give Novell a stronger presence in Internet services.
More and More Laptops Labeled Damaged Goods

"Users and industry observers said flimsy laptops are on a collision course with a notebook industry geared toward making portables lighter, cheaper and faster - not stronger.
The laptop universe is divided between "ruggedized" laptops - usually used by field service workers - and the more fragile notebooks used by mobile professionals. Ruggedized laptops, which weigh several pounds more than standard laptops, can cost $5,000 or more.
Vendors argue that users have accepted the trade-off of lower cost and lighter weight vs. "fragility."
