Seed Handling
Faster, Easier And Smarter
Bulk seed is fast becoming the delivery system of choice for many bulk options
midwestern grain producers as the availability and variety of on-farm handling systems expands. No more unloading, stacking and storing seed bags. No more carrying full bags to the field, filling the planter and then disposing of the empties. Bulk seed delivery will save time and several varietiesvirtually eliminate the extreme physical exertion of lifting and carrying bags.

Bulk Delivery Options
There are currently two types of bulk seed delivery systems available:

Your conditioned Stewart Seed can be shipped via the Stewart Bulk Delivery Truck at a time most convenient to you. Weigh tickets confirming the size and variety of the shipment will accompany your delivery. Up to 6 varieties can be delivered at once in the 6 self-contained, stainless steel 150 unit hoppers.

Mini-bulk bags can also be delivered via flat bed trailer or be picked up at the Stewart Seeds facility in Greensburg, Indiana.

Safe Handling
It is important to consider how best to handle mini-bulk bags on the farm. The 2,000 lb. weight and lack of structural integrity of the burlap type bag requires that extreme caution be taken when handling. These are some of the important safety procedures to follow any time you work with mini-bulk containers.

  • Always secure the bag when moving or unloading
  • A metal frame is recommended - plans are available from Stewart Seeds
  • Keep all bystanders away when bags are being lifted or moved
  • Be sure to use the proper size forklift or loader
  • Carefully move mini-bulk bags on a flat surface
  • Mini-bulk bags should remain close to the ground while moving
  • Drive slowly, especially when turning - excessive speed can cause the load to shift

We are concerned with your safety and encourage you to consider the safest way to handle this and every farm chore.

Select The Right Handling Equipment
we can help
A wide variety of in-field handling systems for bulk and mini-bulk seed are available from many sources. You can choose from fixed or portable auger systems powered by electric or hydraulic motor. Pneumatic systems which transfer the seed with managed airflow are very flexible and worth considering.
